Bio

Mariah Currey (she/her) is a comic artist, illustrator, and graphic designer who hails from the rainy forests of Northwest Washington where she lives with her spouse, baby, and 7 cats. A graduate of Western Washington University, Mariah double majored in Graphic Design and French. She is an avid podcast listener, home-barista enthusiast, and video game player.

Comics and Illustration: Mariah has been self-publishing her cozy gothic fantasy series, Rainy Day Dreams, as a webcomic online since 2015. Her comics and illustrations have also been included in various anthologies including Object Head Zine: Flora & Fungi (2018), Chubby Anthology Stellar (2018) and Mermaids (2018), Fatality and Flora: A Hades x Persephone OC zine (2022), and Concrete Arcanum (2023). Possessing a lifelong love of fantasy, myths, and monsters, and my work often juxtaposes the supernatural with the mundane. Mariah has a passion is for creating female-centric stories that balance action and adventure with complex interpersonal relationships, both of the romantic and platonic variety. She is also committed to promoting body and sex positivity in her work.

Design: With a long history in print and publication design, Mariah has worked on publications such as Bellingham Alive, Couture Weddings, Welcome Guide, and Menu Seattle. She has also provided design work and art direction for small press publications, such as the tabletop game books of Whimsy Machine Media, logo design, and brand creation. Mariah brings an illustrative eye to her design work, balancing high class aesthetics with a playful twist.
